Oracle SW Developer (SQL and PL/SQL) - 00IYC

Job Location: Secaucus, NJ

Shift: Regular / Full-time

Description
The Specialist Software Developer provides technical guidance regarding the determination of client area application systems requirements for new or modified application programs; preparation of system specifications; and development, testing, and implementation of efficient, cost-effective application solutions. This position requires extensive knowledge of the client area's functions and systems, in-depth knowledge of system and technology alternatives, and broad knowledge of the system development life cycle.

Responsibilities
  • Consult with client management regarding the technical requirements and impact of complex business requirements.
  • Provide input into the creation of technical standards and ensure their adherence.
  • Design, code, and create test plans, test, debug, and document applications.
  • Conduct technical studies and evaluations of business area requirements, and recommend appropriate technological solutions.
  • Develop detailed specifications from which new programs are written.
  • Write and prepare specifications, documentation, and system flow charts for complex computer programs based on an understanding of the business or functional requirements, typically requiring maintenance and/or modification of existing and proposed applications.
  • Research and evaluate alternative technical solutions and recommend the most efficient and cost-effective solution.
  • Act as an expert technical resource to development staff in all phases of the development and implementation process.
  • Validate business rules with client management.
  • All aspects of designing, development and supporting of Oracle database objects for Data warehouse and reporting applications include batch processes:
  • Design and develop Oracle objects such as packages, procedures, views, materialized views, triggers for Data warehouse and reporting applications.
  • Database design and data modeling for data warehouse and reporting applications.
  • Extensive knowledge in SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Unix Shell Scripts development for batch process.
  • Experience in Source code tool — PVCS, Scheduling tool — Control_M and Monitoring tool — Toad /PLSQL developer.
  • Delivery of work estimates for proposed business changes, both small and large in scope.
  • Write clear program/module technical specifications including specifications for others to build.
  • Coding, testing and Quality Assurance support for very complex Oracle procedures.
  • Peer review of others’ work and pre-QA test.
  • Performance tuning, profiling and monitoring of SQL through a variety of tools and applications. Ability to work with performance tuning group and supporting the application benchmarking activities.
  • Troubleshooting problems and analyzing solution to them
  • Taking responsibility to support production environment 24/7

Qualifications
To qualify, candidates must have:
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience; advanced degree preferred.
  • Approximately 7-9 years of experience in systems analysis and application program development.
  • Technical knowledge in various programming languages and program development software.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Sound judgment and tact.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, management and staff members.
  • Expertise in Oracle 10g would be a plus.
  • Support of the batch processing and revisions to batch processing schedules as needed.
  • Ability to support Benchmark, QA and pre-production activities.
  • Excellent Performance tuning ability.
