Description
This position will manage Product Development for EY/Knowledge, Future State of Knowledge and Enterprise Portal.
We seek a very experienced senior manager, someone who has proven experience, diversified experience implementing enterprise wide Intranet platforms, "workspace" applications, web content management, diverse technologies and a global users base. This is going to be a key role for us as we look to make substantive changes to our platform moving forward.
Position Summary:
The Associate Director of Product Management is primarily responsible for directing the operational activities of programming, systems analysis and software development efforts within the Knowledge portfolio within the Global Web Channels Portfolio organization. This role will require the successful candidate to gain an in-depth knowledge of the customer area’s functions and systems, application program development life cycles.
Candidate will manage junior managers and a team of 25 to 40 staff, consultants and off-shore resources.
In addition to project delivery, this position will be responsible for leading and mentoring project team members (matrixed and virtual) on methodology and technology as well as assessing team members' performance on projects. The successful candidate serves as a role model by promoting and demonstrating commitment to commonly adopted processes and development standards.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Direct the continual upgrading of product and infrastructure to maintain currency with technological progress, economic change and business needs.
- Recommend annual budgets of $5 to $10 million and manage expenditures in order to operate within approved budget guidelines.
- Direct all phases of system development and implementation process, including the analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and ongoing support for the customer area’s application systems. Ensure that the implementation of projects is consistent with IT plans and standards.
- Consult with functional management in the analysis of short and long range business requirements and recommend innovations which anticipate the future impact of changing business requirements, hardware and software on the customer area’s applications and systems.
- Ensure effective policies and procedures are developed and maintained for the organization.
- Evaluate and report on the impact of changes across multiple applications/products.
- Coordinate application development activities of all associated project teams.
- Advanced understanding of Application Development, Scope, Schedule and Planning, and Resource Management.
Knowledge and skills Requirements:
- Excellent management, interpersonal, communications and organizational skills.

- Strong Practical knowledge of Applications and Network technologies
- Experience managing off-shore resources a big plus

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Ensure the training and development of staff members in order to develop their skills and maintain the state-of-the-art knowledge in their area of responsibility.
- Direct all staff members directly or indirectly in the development, implementation and support of applications to meet the customer’s business requirements
- Be responsible for the selection and performance management of staff members.
Job Requirements:
An advanced degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
Experience:
- Minimum of 10-12 years experience in Managing Application System Development in complex environments
- Experience working with diverse platforms/operating system environments and knowledge of associated integration issues
- Extensive client server and web based application development life-cycle experience
- Extensive experience with state of the art application development software packages
- Experience in Development of IBM Websphere Portal, Notes/Domino technologies and/or Knowledge Applications a plus
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of integration platforms.
- Demonstrated understanding of business processes and how technology enables those processes
- Demonstrated knowledge of development and database tools
- Demonstrated understanding of core business processes
- Proven project experience
