Business Development Director

Job Location: Des Moines, IA

Description:
Our client is looking for a Business Development Director. This person will develop and implement business plans to drive entry into new markets. Take P&L responsibility for the new business areas, set strategy and roadmap, and assemble and motivate a cross-functional team for market entry and execution. Create a “greenhouse’ business incubation plan to launch new businesses and transition to business units after successful launch. This is a high-visibility position that involves interaction with major customers and prospects in North America, Europe and Australia, and collaboration with all units within the company.

Responsibilities
  • Develops, advocates and drives the new markets strategic plan and roadmap globally.
  • Acts as the key spokesperson for the respective businesses to customers, the press, and industry groups on a regular basis to promote product, service, and business awareness.
  • Obtains extensive and in-depth knowledge of the competition, industry trends, business financials and business marketing strategies. Develops plans for and seek Senior Leadership approval of new market entry initiatives.
  • Leads the development and implementation of the go-to market strategy, and implementation of new businesses in a “greenhouse” structure.
  • Leads and manages the product and service development lifecycle, including roadmap planning, information technology prioritization, market and competitive analysis, product positioning, and product launches.
  • Develops strong relationships and partnerships with major strategic prospect accounts and vendors to ensure business success.
  • Organizes tasks and resources to complete work and meet deadlines according to established departmental procedures.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. MBA strongly desired. Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirement.
  • Five or more years in marketing, order management, or fulfillment areas with direct responsibilities for launching new businesses.
  • Proven ability to initiate and complete major cross-functional projects independently with minimal supervision. Top-notch follow-through skills.
  • Strong knowledge of marketing services, order-management, fulfillment and internet technology areas.
  • Travel Required
