Job Description:
The Frederick County Public School System (K-12 enrollment 12,600 students, 23 sites) is seeking applications for the position of sign language interpreter for the hearing impaired at Robert E. Aylor Middle School. This award winning, highly successful school division cares deeply for its students and staff, maintains modern facilities, has a comprehensive curriculum, and offers a wide range of programs including regional special-education and vocational-education offerings.
Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED required. Virginia Quality Assurance Screening level III (VQAS) or any other state or national certification recognized by the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing as equivalent to or exceeding the VQAS Level III is preferred. Candidates who have coursework in sign-language communication and are willing to pursue Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III may be considered.
Must have basic reading and computation skills; written and oral communication skills; knowledge of group dynamics; and behavior modification techniques as required by the assignment.
Salary Range:
Certified: $17.81 - $29.05 per hour
Non-certified: $17.02 - $28.26 per hour
