Description:
The Frederick County Public School System (K-12 enrollment 12,900) is seeking applications for the position of Special Services Eligibility Specialist. This award winning, highly successful school division cares deeply for its students and staff, maintains modern facilities, has a comprehensive curriculum, and offers a wide range of programs including regional special-education and career and technical offerings. Special Services Eligibility Specialist provides a full range of planning, design, consultative, and supervisory duties to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local law, policies, and procedures related to the special education eligibility process and in meeting the needs of students with disabilities.
Qualifications:
Eligible for, or holds, a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License with administrative, supervisory and/or special education endorsement; minimum of three years teaching, supervisory, or administrative experience in special education. Knowledge of federal regulations, state regulations, and local policies and procedures related to special education preferred. Understanding of the components of effective programming for students with disabilities in an inclusive school community, ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with other professionals within the school and community and effective communication skills are desired.
Salary Range:
$65,851-$85,587 (2007-08 salary scale. The 2008-09 salary scale has not been determined.)
