Description:
The Frederick County Public School System (K-12 enrollment 12,900 students; 24 sites) is seeking applications for the position of IEP Specialist at the elementary level. This award winning, highly successful school division cares deeply for its students and staff, maintains modern facilities, has a comprehensive curriculum, and offers a wide range of programs including regional special education and career and technical offerings.
Qualifications:
Master's degree required. Minimum of five years teaching experience with at least three of those years in special education. Supervisory experience preferred. Thorough knowledge of instructional methods, materials, practices, procedures, and programs that support the educational needs of students with disabilities. Knowledge of federal & state regulations related to special education. Leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working with professional colleagues and the public. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Duties:
Assist elementary special education teachers (including early childhood and itinerant special education teachers) and administrators with the delivery of an effective instructional program to meet the needs of students with disabilities. Assist with the development and implementation of curriculum, staff training, and instructional programs. Provide assistance and training in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Serve as a liaison between special education teachers and the office of the director of special services.
Salary Range:
$66,953-$87,020 (2007-08 salary scale. The 2008-09 salary scale has not been determined)
