Description:
Ferrum College is accepting applications for the position of Technology Training and Support Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Administrative Computing, the Technology Training and Support Specialist is responsible for day-to-day support of the technology needs of nonacademic staff and administrators at Ferrum College. The successful candidate will work from the Help Desk and will be responsible for troubleshooting, hardware repair and upgrades, software updates and restoration, and delivering one-on-one and group training to nonacademic staff on campus software and hardware, including technology security.
Skills and qualifications are as follows: Must have significant experience dealing with end-user technology support and preventive maintenance. Specific required skills include hardware maintenance and troubleshooting (Macintosh and PC), software OS installation and configuration (Macintosh and PC), software installation and troubleshooting, network troubleshooting (especially TCP/IP), and familiarity with system replication software (e.g., Norton Ghost). Must have documented ability to work independently, excellent interpersonal skills, and strong written and oral communication skills. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. A+ certification required; Network+ certification preferred.
