Academic & Event Technology Office Assistant

$7.50 - $10.00 per hour based on experience

Review of materials will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma and four years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience responding to technical help desk questions, using automated inventory control systems and/or database management software. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Lotus Notes.

Special Instructions to Applicants:
Essential functions of the job include the ability to move/lift up to 35 lbs.

Work hours may vary from 24-36 scheduled hours per week. Normal scheduled hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; with the possibility of working some evenings and weekends. This is a temporary non-benefit earning position.

Additional materials submitted such as video, tapes, slides, books, etc., are subject to public review under Florida's Public Records law, shall become the property of FGCU, and can not be returned.

Job Description:
Provide clerical, administrative and customer support for Academic & Event Technology's Equipment Loan Office. Daily verification of equipment inventory; data entry; report generation; filing; phone reception; and check out counter duty. Accurately tracks equipment in department's inventory and diligently updates information pertaining to new, disposed and/or transferred equipment in a timely manner. Assist with Special Event request and billing process.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and skilled in basic office clerical duties including phone reception, data entry and filing; Knowledge of electronic data management and record keeping. Ability to identify computer and audio visual hardware. Skilled in responding courteously and effectively to customer requests. knowledge of inventory control concepts; Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Lotus Notes; Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally. The ability to coordinate and implement assignments in order to meet deadlines. The ability to assume new responsibilities and carry them out in an effective manner. Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and flexibility. Must possess excellent interpersonal and teaming skills and be able to effectively function in a team environment. Knowledge of effective decision-making and problem-solving techniques.
