Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor degree from an accredited institution in biology, chemistry, molecular biology or related field and one year of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Experience working in a science laboratory conducting molecular virology research
Preferred Qualifications:
Laboratory experience especially in the area of molecular virology

This is a grant-funded position with anticipated refunding. Although renewal of grant is expected, position is contingent upon renewal of grant.
This position includes the handling of hazardous materials. Essential functions of the job include repetitive writs motions typing on a computer keyboard, typewriter or calculator. The ability to move/lift up to 35 pounds.
Additional materials submitted such as video, tapes, slides, books, etc., are subject to public review under Florida's Public Records law, shall become the property of FGCU, and cannot be returned.
Job Description:
Reports to the Project Director. Responsible for cell culture and molecular biology support as well as general laboratory maintenance and organization. This individual will be primarily responsible for carrying out molecular virology research in the laboratory. This individual will be responsible for maintaining an up to date laboratory notebook, reviewing pertinent literature, conducting experiments, analyzing data, and will be required to prepare written reports of research findings. This individual will also be expected to provide assistance in training students and other laboratory members.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and the ability to work in a science laboratory conducting molecular virology research.
