Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma and four years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience

Preferred Qualifications
Personal computer experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), web based programs, and database program experience, mail merge, extensive computer experience needed

Special Instructions to Applicants
Normal hours of business are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Average work week can be any where from 10 to 40 hours per week based on needs of Department. Work hours will be flexible at times. Some evening hours may be required in addition to very few weekend hours. Coverage at off site locations may be required at times. Must be able to lift and move up to 25 lbs.

Additional materials submitted such as video, tapes, slides, books, etc., are subject to public review under Florida's Public Records law, shall become the property of FGCU, and can not be returned.

Job Description
Provides secretarial support for the Center for Social & Public Policy.

Proven experience of general office procedures, strong computer skills in all areas. Ability to handle large volume of incoming calls. Establishes and maintains both paper and computer based files. Coordinates and/or assists with deparmental mass mailings. Provides back up support to Business Manager and other office staff. Assume new responsibilities and carry them out in an effective manner under supervision of Business Manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge and experience in general office procedures. Experience and strong computer knowledge in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, & Excel), mail merge. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to write clearly and legibly. Good organizational skills, attention to detail and flexibility. Ability to coordinate, prioritize, and implement assignments in order to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and assume new responsibilities and carry them out in an effective manner. Must possess excellent customner service skills, computer skills and telephone skills.
