Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of coaching experience at the high school level or above. Must possess the CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within two (2) months of employment. Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel throughout the country.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and collegiate coaching experience. Demonstrated expertise in the area of pitching.
Special Instructions to Applicants:
Essential functions of the job include the ability to bend, stoop, raise arms and lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to participate in softball related activities like throwing, catching, hitting, pitching, etc in order to demonstrate skills required and provide live practice to players. Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel throughout the country. Ability to work nights and weekends.

Job Description:
Reports to the Head Softball Coach. This position includes responsibilities as Assistant Athletic Coach for Softball for the Intercollegiate Athletics Program. Assists in recruiting of prospective student-athletes; coaches student-athletes; assists in scheduling of contests and travel arrangements; participates in athletic development and fundraising activities for athletics programs, including making speeches; assists in monitoring of student-athlete academic progress. Provides leadership for all aspects of the softball program.
Responsible for the interpretation and compliance with all University Board of Trustees (UBOT), university, conference, and NCAA policies, procedures, rules and regulations regarding intercollegiate athletics. This shall include monitoring and reporting on policies and procedures applicable to the softball program to ensure compliance of staff and student athletes to NCAA and Atlantic Sun Conference rules and regulations. Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of NCAA, Atlantic Sun Conference and specific softball game and equipment rules. Participates in annual continuing education programs and must pass the NCAA recruiting certification test in order to gain and retain employment.
High degree of interaction with the private sector in the role of fundraising for the softball program. Lead promoter and administrator of all softball camps and clinics, whether pro-bono or by admission fee. Calls on prospective student-athletes and parents in a recruiting role. May speak at various business and civic group meetings regarding the softball program.
Will have access to student data, some of which may be confidential. Responsible for knowing and adhering to State confidentiality laws, FERPA and Sunshine State laws.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of all aspects of the sport of softball and the ability to teach/coach collegiate student-athletes toward acquisition of those skills. Demonstrated management, organizational and communication skills. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and a strong commitment to maintain compliance with those rules and regulations. A strong commitment to guide student-athletes toward successful completion of an undergraduate degree while participating in intercollegiate athletics.
