Minimum Qualifications
An earned Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in civil or environmental engineering or a closely related field of engineering. Professional registration or licensing or the ability to become registered a must.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred areas of expertise include water resources engineering and related fields including surface and groundwater hydrology, hydraulics, water quality modeling, coastal and estuarine hydraulics, and water infrastructure. A rank-appropriate record of educational and/or scientific publication in scholarly journals and/or industrial experience (pertinent to one or more of the areas of interest listed above) is desirable. Successful candidates must be able to teach new and/or existing courses in civil/environmental engineering as well as in general engineering topics. Additionally, candidates should possess skills for working in a rapidly developing regional comprehensive university with a focus on creating a student learning environment among diverse academic disciplines. Civil/Environmental engineering faculty members will work closely with the Chair of the Department of Environmental and Civil Engineering.

General Summary Statement:
The U.A. Whitaker School of Engineering is dedicated to quality education, research, and service. All faculty are expected to be excellent teachers who are committed to innovative delivery of instruction that results in improved student learning; to using technology, including distance learning, effectively; to engaging in scholarly and service activities; and to engaging in a continuous and outcomes-based assessment process. Engineering faculty will be responsible for teaching appropriate, assigned undergraduate and graduate engineering courses, including discipline-specific civil/environmental engineering courses. Appointment(s) will be made at the assistant professor level on a 9-month multi-year basis with a starting date of August 2010. This position is available pending approval of funding.
