Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate in music theory, music theory/composition or related field from an accredited institution or equivalent accreditation. The university seeks candidates who will contribute effectively and collegially to a positive, dynamic, and inclusive learning environment for a diverse student population. ABD will be considered if degree is conferred by August 2010.
Preferred Qualifications
College teaching experience.

Appointment will be made at a faculty rank commensurate with the candidate's experience on a 9-month multi-year appointment basis available August 2010.

General Summary Statement:
Your initial assignment will include teaching at the undergraduate level; course and/or curriculum development; research/scholarship; involvement on College and University committees and/or initiatives; as well as duties as assigned. Duties
Teaches in the four-semester theory and aural-skills sequences required of all music majors and upper-division undergraduate courses (e.g., orchestration, counterpoint, and form and analysis). Other assignments may be included commensurate with the candidate's expertise and institutional needs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated excellence in both theory and aural skills instruction and a record of, or potential for, significant creative activity in music composition. The ability also to teach composition (electronic and/or acoustic) to classes and individuals and/or music technology is highly desirable.
Experience or commitment to the use of technology in distance learning & university teaching. Interest in collaborating both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning. Must value continued scholarship and service to the school and university.
