Minimum Qualifications
Earned Doctorate in Music education from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent accreditation; a minimum of three years experience as a teacher of general music at the elementary level; a high level of personal musicianship; and an active research and publication agendum. Excellence in teaching at the college level is expected. The university seeks candidates who will contribute effectively and collegially to a positive, dynamic, and inclusive learning environment for a diverse student population. ABD will be considered if degree is conferred by August 2010.

Preferred Qualifications
Additional middle school experience.

Appointment will be made on a 9-month multi-year appointment basis available August 2010.

General Summary Statement:
Your initial assignment will include teaching at the undergraduate level; course and/or curriculum development; research/scholarship; involvement on College and University committees and/or initiatives; as well as duties as assigned. A&P/Faculty Job Responsibilities
Duties
Teaches general music methods for music education majors; develops and assists with supervision of field programs; supervises student teachers; develops and maintains associations with surrounding public and private schools; serves as liaison to the university's College of Education; advises the collegiate CMENC chapter; and pursues continuing research and service activities. Additional assignments may be made as appropriate to the appointee's background and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to provide leadership for the music education program at local, regional, and national levels; substantial knowledge of contemporary music education learning theories, early childhood education, and instructional technologies; and ability to teach classes in a secondary area, such as class piano or aural skills is desirable.

Experience or commitment to the use of technology in distance learning & university teaching. Interest in collaborating both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning. Must value continued scholarship and service to the school and university.
