Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Marine Science, Oceanography, or related field from an accredited institution or equivalent accreditation. A demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. ABD will be considered if degree is conferred by August 2010.

Experience in numerical hydrodynamic water circulation modeling is required.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in simulation of changes in water level and water quality. Experience developing model applications of unstructured grid hydrodynamic models for coastal regions driven by water level and meteorological forcing. This includes models with grid refinement designed to capture important coastal features down to a few hundred meters or less.

Appointment will be made at a faculty rank commensurate with the candidate's experience on a 9-month multi-year appointment basis available August 2010.

Your initial assignment will include teaching, at both graduate and undergraduate levels; course and/or curriculum development; research/scholarship; involvement on College and University committees and/or initiatives; as well as duties as assigned. A&P/Faculty Job Responsibilities
Duties
Participates in projects to develop, improve and apply hydrodynamic models in estuarine and coastal waters. Responsible for the application and development of tools to evaluate model output including visualization and statistical measures of quality. Uses a variety of existing programs and software. Develops new Unix, Linux, Fortran, C, and/or MATLAB software to handle unique problems. Will have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty from the Department of Marine and Ecological Sciences on a variety of coastal processes and issues including nutrient, contaminant, larval and sediment transport. Supports curriculum at the undergraduate Marine Science, Environmental Studies, and graduate Environmental Science programs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience or commitment to the use of technology in distance learning & university teaching. Interest in collaborating both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning. Must value continued scholarship and service to the school and university.
