POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
The Intensive Supervision Officer (ISP Officer) for adults is responsible for the supervision of adult offenders placed in the 25th Judicial District Community Intensive Supervision Program. The ISP Officer monitors the adult offender program participation and provides counseling and support services as necessary. The ISP Officer identifies and utilizes community resources for referrals of adult offenders, coordinates the services of the ISP with appropriate agencies, and provides feedback to the offender and other Community Corrections personnel concerning the offender s progress. The work is independently performed under the general supervision of the Community Corrections Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Interviews and otherwise screens adult offenders referred for placement in the ISP.
2. Oversees assessment of adult offenders referred for placement in the ISP.
3. Reviews with adult offenders program expectations and court ordered conditions of the ISP.
4. Develops a supervision plan with adult offenders in the ISP.
5. Identifies community resources and refers adult offenders to appropriate social service agencies for necessary services, i.e., employment/educational counseling, substance abuse evaluation and treatment, life skills training, language interpretation for bilingual probationers, and mental health services.
6. Ensures court ordered conditions of adult offenders are carried out such as paying restitution and court costs, completing substance abuse evaluations and treatment, performing community service requirements, receiving mental health evaluations, and maintaining an electronic monitoring/house arrest system.
7. Assesses adult offender s compliance with conditions of phase system.
8. Assists adult offenders with managing finances, finding and retaining employment, locating suitable housing, and initiating and maintaining friendships and family relationships.
9. Screens offender for evidence of substance abuse.
10. Develops and maintains current and accurate record system of adult offenders and documents all pertinent information according to standards established by the Kansas Department of Corrections.
11. Prepares all reports on adult offenders assigned to the ISP according to standards established by the Kansas Department of Corrections.
12. Writes court reports and letters on adult offenders.
13. Coordinates case review meetings with the Community Corrections Director and representatives of contracted community resources to which the offender has been referred.
14. Advocates for offenders and the ISP.
15. Performs related work as required.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
1. Knowledge of the process of the judicial system.
2. Knowledge of utilization of community resources.
3. Knowledge of behavior including socially deviant behavior.
4. Knowledge of techniques of supervision for adult offenders.
5. Knowledge of criminal etiology and behavior accompanying sexual deviancy.
6. Skills in interviewing and obtaining information from adult offenders and people with whom the offender associates while under supervision.
7. Skills in time management, planning, work organization, job coordination and record keeping.
8. Bilingual preferred but not required.
EXPERIENCE
1. Minimum one year of experience in case management or related field.

3. Ability to accurately interpret laws, policies, and regulations.
4. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with county officials, other Community Corrections employees, community agencies, and people from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
1. Bachelors degree in social sciences or related field.
