Job Description:
Experienced Manager with minimum ten years of experience in Composite Aircraft/Aerospace/Defense Manufacturing to direct $1B commercial composite aircraft programs from concept, production and through to completion. (Cradle to grave.) Requires working with team members of other divisions, vendors, and customers. Must be able to show growth in career and a proven track record of accomplishments.
Education:
Minimum BS Degree (prefer degrees in Engineering, Physics, or related to Manufacturing, Finance or possibly Aerospace/Aeronautics - depending on experience)
Responsibilities:
- Define commercial aircraft composites business.
- Direct transition of programs and assume activities that will focus on optimizing factory layout for high production rate and maximum efficiency.
- Collaboration between this plant's development team another location to ensure DFA, DFM, testability and robust transition to production.
- Establish initial production capability in beginning with conceptualization of physical plant space and layout, workstations, material and labor requirements.
- Extensive communication, planning and leadership within all segments of the on-site operation including Supply Chain, Material Program
- Management, Manufacturing Processes, Quality Assurance, Factory Operations, Finance, and Test departments.
- Direct collaboration between Design and Production capability to ensure ramp-up of full-rate production.
- 10-20% travel domestic travel required.
- Direct cross-functional team to meet/exceed technical, quality, schedule and cost objectives.
- Work with Continuous Improvement and Center of Excellence Teams to develop strategies for reducing costs.
- Prepare, monitor and manage program budgets; including Estimate to Completion, Sales and Profit forecasts and work authorizations and funds released once the program has transitioned to full-rate production.
- Prepare proposals in support of new or follow-on business and scope changes, as required.
- Obtain authorization and work within funds budgeted for program during production phase.
Requirements:
- 10+ years experience in aerospace, or related manufacturing industry.
- Progressive Program Management and/or Operations Management
- Experience in high rate production program planning, defining capacity requirements and transition initial production
- Proven track record of leading programs from concept to full-rate production.
- Extensive experience managing high-volume manufacturing composite and/or aircraft components
- Approximately 10% to 20% domestic travel.
- Design to Cost/Drive to Cost
- P&L experience
- Continuous improvement experience.
- Experience managing Program budgets, operations, financial challenges, ability to work effectively with internal and external customers and forge long-term relationships
