Duties:
Provides the full range of physical therapy outpatient and/or inpatient care including performing comprehensive patient evaluations and administrative duties. Independently plans and implements treatment programs and develops treatment goals. Performs ongoing reevaluation and assessment of patients' progress, response to treatment, and modifies treatment plans. As a physician extender, performs primary evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for all types of musculoskeletal disorders ranging from non-traumatic pain to acute traumatic injuries. Orders and reviews diagnostic imaging studies, prescribes authorized medications, requests braces and splints, refers patients to specialty clinics, and consults with Orthopedics or Radiology as indicated. Directs and supervises PT assistants. Distinguishes between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early potentially serious physical, mental and emotional problems. Other duties as assigned.
About the Position:

Qualifications:
General Schedule
* Bachelors Degree: that included or was supplemented by (1) a physical therapy curriculum approved by a recognized professional accrediting organization at the time the curriculum was completed, and (2) the clinical affiliation requirements prescribed by the school and 1 year specialized experience at the GS 09 level for GS-11 or one year at GS-11 for GS-12.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience equipping the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Physical Therapist, and that is typically in or related to the work of a Physical Therapist; such as Extensive knowledge of theory, principles, practices and techniques of Physical Therapy and clinical experience in developing individual treatment programs. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. For GS-12 level vacancies, one year of successful program management is also required.
