Duties:
Secures a health and medical history from the patients or family member, records findings and makes clinical evaluation, determines treatment in the Urgent Care Section. Examines patients and performs initial patient work-up and assessment of patients' care and treatment; and determines the need for and orders laboratory tests, X-rays and other procedures necessary to complete assessment of the patient. Provides a full range of urgent care and emergency services or crises interventions, to include life saving procedures. Writes prescriptions, orders the administration of medications, dispenses medications and prescribes controlled substance. Records entries into patients' medical records using CHCS/AHLTA or handwritten, as applicable, including; treatment rendered, tests or procedures ordered, and notations of prescriptions, and drugs dispensed or administered in accordance with approved protocols.
About the Position: This position is located at Irwin Army Community Hospital, Primary Clinic 2, Urgent Care, on historic Main Post, Fort Riley, KS.
In this position you will provide a full range of activities to include assessing, planning and evaluating patients in the emergency medical section.
NOTE: SUPERIOR QUALIFICATION PAY AND/OR RECRUITMENT INCENTIVES MAY BE PAID BASED ON SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE AN APPLICANT POSSESSES.
Must maintain BCLS and ACLS certification and National Commision of Certification for Physicians Assistant (NCCPA).
Must be able to meet credentialing requirements.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: A broad background of knowledge of the medical environment, practices, and procedures such as would be acquired by a bachelors degree in a health care occupation such as nursing, medical technology, or physical therapy, or by 3 years of responsible and progressive health care experience such as medical corpsman, nursing assistant, or medical technician; and successful completion of a certificate or diploma program of at least 12 months, including clinical training or preceptorship, specifically designed for professional-caliber physicians assistants that provided the knowledge and ability required to take a detailed medical history, to conduct a physical examination, to follow observation procedures, to order and perform diagnostic and therapeutic tasks, and to exercise a degree of judgment in integrating and interpreting findings on the basis of general medical knowledge; or equivalent education and training; OR Successful completion of a full 4-year program for physician assistants leading to a bachelors degree. The course of study or training must be approved by a nationally-recognized professional body such as the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools, or by a panel of physicians established by a Federal agency for this purpose. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:In addition to meeting the BASIC REQUIREMENTS applicants must also possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower band/level. Specialized experience is further defined as experience with taking medical histories in adult, geriatric and pediatric patients, conducting physical exams, ordering and performing diagnostic and therapeutic tasks, integrating and interpreting findings on the basis of medical knowledge; administering medication; experience with emergency care and injuries to determine proper treatment, document medical records or other work typically in or related to the position being filled. Applicants who have completed requirements for degree of Dr of Medicine or Osteopathy, but lack license to practice in the United States, MAY be rated eligible.
