Duties:
Serves as Information Assurance Officer (IASO) for the Inspector General (IG) Office assuring the IG Office computer system is protected from all threats and vulnerabilities, also serves as Information Security Officer (ISO). Implements and monitors the automated information system security programs including accreditation of ADP equipment and security of the same. Installs new systems software, ensuring turn-in and disposal of excess or upgraded equipment and software according to regulatory requirements. Independently responsible for the updating and accuracy of the IG Intranet and Sharepoint web sites. Coordinates the establishment of databases and the application of all hardware and software. Responsible for the security of the IG Computer system and for training IG personnel or ensuring training is available regarding the use of all assigned automation equipment. Serves as Site Administrator. Coordinates with appropriate offices to ensure this system is operational.

About the Position:
Duties continued: Identifies potential problem areas and related issues that may require command attention. Responsible for network functionality of both the Local Access Network (LAN) within the IG as well as the network connectivity with the IGNET. Serves as the administrative coordinator for the IG Office. Provides technical assistance regarding a wide range of taskings assigned to the IG Office, to include personnel, budgetary, time cards, Government Purchase Card, files management, correspondence, calendars, customer service , and automation issues.

Qualifications:
General Schedule
  • To qualify, applicants with current or prior permanent Federal service must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level. All other candidates must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level. Specialized experience is defined as :1. Experience serving as a Information Assurance Officer (IASO) and Information Security Officer. 2. Experience preparing drafts to incoming correspondence; experience with office administrative requirements and procedures; also experience with Microsoft software such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Outlook. 3. Experience with network and the Local Access Network (LAN), or other work that it typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
  • GS-06 and above: One year of experience directly related to the occupation and equivalent to the next lower grade level. Education is not creditable, however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
