Duties:
Serves as Nurse Practitioner in the Well Baby, Disease Management and Primary Care Clinic with responsibility for planning and developing methods, practices and approaches pertinent to family and child health care. Provides a wide range of health care to individuals of all ages and families, to include direct patient care such as diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, injuries, and disease prevention and treatment; arranges and participates in individual and group health education efforts; provides administrative assistance for clinic activities. Provide nursing and medical services to individuals, families and groups, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention, as well as the management of acute and chronic diseases. Orders appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests. Teaches and counsels individuals, families and groups. Serve as health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant and patient advocate.
About the Position:
This position is located at Irwin Army Community Hospital, Caisson Hill Road, Fort Riley, KS.
In this position you will perform a variety of duties in support of the Well Baby, Disease Management and Primary Care Clinics.
NOTE: Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse and as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a state or territory of the Unites States. Must maintain Family Nurse Practitioner certification by a national certifying body as appropriate for their specialty area of practice-American Nurses Credentional Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
Superior Qualifications Pay and/or Recruitment Incentive may be paid based on specialized experience applicants possess.
Shift work is required.
Inclement weather essential position.

BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
A. Education: Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
B. Registration: Applicants must have active, current registration as a RN in a State, DC, Puerto Rico, or a territory of the US.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, applicants must:
Possess formal education and training as Nurse Practitioner from a program that is recognized by a national professional body and completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level that equipped the applicant with knowledge of a wide variety of diseases and types of injuries and supplementary skills to recognize emergency conditions in order to diagnose, prescribe for and treat diseases, disorders and injuries, and refer the more complex cases and acute conditions to qualified medical personnel and perform designated treatment. Ability to establish collaborative rapport with physician, nursing and other staff professional in order to promote and facilitate primary care services. Ability to assess, diagnose, treat, and prescribe medication for specified illnesses in accordance with current modalities within scopes of practice and to recognize conditions requiring physical attention and intervention. Knowledge of pharmacology and ability to prescribe in accordance with approved treatment protocols. Practical knowledge of all Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee (P & T) approved medication and immunization.
