Duties: As a Counseling Psychologist, assists the Clinical Director in the implementation and direction of the rehabilitative aspects of the Army Substance Abuse Program. Within the guidelines, policies, and procedures established by the Clinical Director, assists in implementing the rehabilitation functions of the Counseling Center. Assists in the development and administration of a multi-modality comprehensive rehabilitation and treatment program designed to handle alcohol and drug abuse-related problems of active duty military and their family members, retirees, Department of Defense civilian employees, and other eligible personnel. Applies a professional knowledge of social work/psychological principles, theories, and methods to specific drug and alcohol abuse situations and problems of individuals who present for services. Assist in the Discharge Planning Program for military alcohol and drug in-patients at the hospital/center. Other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements:
Masters degree in either Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an accredited educational institution
LICENSURE: All applicants MUST be licensed as a psychologist or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist by the recognized licensing agency of a State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or the US Virgin Islands. This licensure must allow for independent clinical practice. Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) do not qualify as they are not recognized as independent practicioners by the Dept of Defense. Be sure and state the type of licensure you possess and from where it was obtained. Failure to do so will result in non-consideration of your resume.
SUBSTANCE ABUSE CERTIFICATION: Substance abuse certification acquired through passing a proctored examination, from a State or nationally accredited certifying body is REQUIRED in addition to the qualification requirements listed above. Please be sure and state the type of certification you possess and from where it was obtained. Failure to do so will result in non-consideration of your resume.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to experience in providing psychological treatment and consultation services to alcohol and drug dependent clients while in initial treatment, undergoing rehabilitation, and during follow-up care. For GS-12 level vacancies, one year of successful program management is also required.

All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification Current Advanced Life Support of other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
Documentation to support Military Spouse Preference needs to be submitted at time of application.
