Associate Dean of Academic Programming
Job Location: Wichita, KS
Position Summary:
Friends University invites applications and nominations for a fulltime position of Associate Dean of Academic Programming for the College of Adult and Professional Studies (CAPS) reporting to the Dean of the College. An experienced academic leader is sought to work in conjunction with the Dean to lead the academic programming in the College ensuring the highest quality programs, best practice outcome assessment for adult learners; and efficient, effective delivery of programs both on and off-campus.
Review of applications will begin February 1, 2008 and will continue until the position is filled. This is a new position that could be occupied immediately depending on the availability of individual appointed.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Associate Dean, working with the Dean and Program Directors will:
* Assume leadership role in maintaining a high quality curriculum across all college offerings
* Lead program assessment activities in the College and off-campus sites
* Ensure currency of high quality curricular materials and instructional tools provided to adjunct faculty
* Monitor the delivery of curricula by adjunct faculty at all sites
* Supervise instructional resource personnel (Blackboard specialist, instructional designer)
* In conjunction with the Dean, lead curricular review/updating across all CAPS programs
* Represent the college in the absence of the Dean
Degree Requirements
Ideal candidate will hold a doctoral degree in education, higher education administration or related field. Persons with an ABD and considerable academic experience will be considered with the expectation that the degree will be completed within the next year.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful Candidate will have:
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Have a minimum of two years of academic experience (five years preferred) in higher education
* Familiarity of academic policies and services
* Experience with higher education curricular processes
* Knowledge of adult education principles
* Knowledge and experience in curriculum design and assessment of academic programs
* Experience with developing curricular materials such as syllabi and instructional tools
* Knowledge and experience with learning technology such as Blackboard or others
* Ability to interact and provide leadership across wide constituency of individuals on and off campus
* Have critical thinking and problem solving skills
* Ability to manage time effectively while leading multiple initiatives
