Job Description:
The Design Engineer will participate in applying engineering principles and concepts in support of WBL Design Center projects. Project components include a wide variety of water, wastewater, and water resources facilities evaluation, planning, and design. Projects can include conventional and advanced water and wastewater treatment plants; wastewater collection systems and water distribution systems, including pump stations, storage systems and all appurtenances.
Job Duties:
With supervision, perform assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles including hydraulics, hydrology, chemistry, organic chemistry, and micro-biology. Use fundamental engineering concepts, practices, and procedures to perform specific and assigned tasks. Work is reviewed for quality control and as part of a mentoring process. Assignments and tasks shall include identifying and evaluating alternatives; design of treatment processes; preparation of design plans, specifications and estimates; coordinating with multi-discipline design team engineers and CAD technicians; preparing reports and other written communications; and preparation of drawings and specifications. Having knowledge of state and federal regulation requirements resulting from the Safe Drinking Water Act and Clean Water Act is desired.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in civil or environmental engineering from an ABET accredited program is required. Masters degree in civil or environmental engineering is preferred. EIT registration and license preferred before start but required within one year of hire. Design Engineer must have strong technical problem solving skills, be self motivated, enjoy team oriented work, be fluent in the English language, have good oral and written communications, be knowledgeable of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook programs as well as knowledge about surveying. Knowledge of collection, distribution, and process design software tools is desired.
