Job Description:
The Lead CAD Technician will be responsible for coordinating and managing CAD standards and drawing production efforts for the Water Business Line (WBL) Design Center. The Lead CAD Technician will direct a group of engineering technicians, designers, or CAD technicians of various levels of capability to produce drawings on various size WBL projects. You may also assist the Design Center Manager with the development and control of budgets, schedules, and workload for department/project technician staff. The Lead CAD Technician will also serve as a member of the Garver CAD Standards Committee and help further develop company CAD standards, software tools, and technician training.

Job Duties:
The Lead CAD Technician will, at a minimum, have the following capabilities and the ability to perform the following routine functions:
* As part of the Garver CAD Standards Committee, work with multidiscipline team (Aviation, Transportation, Development, and Water) of engineers and technicians to standardize software for the WBL Design Center as well as across the Garver enterprise.
* Work with Project Managers at the start of a project and recommend software tools to use and determine the methodology how the project will be executed.

The Lead CAD Technician will also be responsible for establishing, monitoring and enforcing CAD standards.
* Lead a group of technicians and designers, of various levels and disciplines (water, structural, electrical, I&C, etc.) in working with the Project Manager and design team to execute a project.
* When sharing work across offices or with clients, the Lead CAD Technician will arrange resources for file sharing and communication.
* Assist the Design Center Manager in scheduling, budgeting, and workload leveling of Design Center group of technicians. The Lead CAD Technician, with assistants from the Design Center Manager, will also arrange training for Design Center technicians to acquire more expertise on the standardized software in their group.

Qualifications:
* Interested candidates must have at least 10 years of drafting experience working for a professional engineering consulting firm in preferably more than one discipline (piping, structural, electrical, I&C, Controls, mechanical, HVAC, process).
* Candidate must have a High School diploma or equivalent. A 2-year technical degree is ideal, but not necessarily required.
Candidate must have a complete understanding of drafting standards, drawing hierarchy, and file management. Candidate should also be capable of producing moderately complex calculations such as quantity take-off, consistently estimating accurate completion time for a group of technicians assigned to a project, and estimating level of effort and budgets of CAD support required for a project.

Candidate must be able to coordinate with a project team effectively. Candidate must also have the ability to coordinate own schedule and deliver multiple projects, simultaneously. Strong oral and written communication skills, team leadership, problem resolution, and a sense of initiative are important for this position and career advancement.

Some travel required. Some light field work will be required for site assessment of project locations with the project team.
