Description

The Fayette Chip and Saw Mill is looking for qualified Lumber Graders to join a winning team dedicated to making quality product while maintaining strict safety standards. Lumber graders are responsible for grading wood by hand based on TPI and SPIB standards. Qualified applicants must possess the following basic qualifications:
o Must have at least 6 months of experience in grading Southern Pine Lumber or applicable certification from TPI or SPIB Agency.
o Must be able to grade lumber based on TPI or SPIB rules and regulations
o Must be 18 years old
o Must have high school diploma or equivalent
o Must be willing to work in harsh weather conditions (hot, humid, cold, windy)
o Must maintain strict adherence to safety standards (including all appropriate PPE where necessary)
o Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and overtime as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
o Certification from TPI or SPIB to grade lumber.
o License to operate mobile equipment (ie forklift)
o 2-5 years of industrial experience, preferably in the lumber industry.
