Summary:

 

The Wauna Mill is seeking a qualified individual to fill at Quality Control Supervisor role at their facility. The selected candidate will provide leadership and support for the product quality and development for the paper machines and converting departments at the mill.

Responsibilities:

 

  • PQ&D Department performance and compliance
  • Converting and paper machine quality labs, testing processes and technical personnel
  • Manage paper machine grade specifications
  • Georgia Pacific Integrated Quality System (GPIQS) mill Master Administrator
  • Manage facility Product Safety Plan and third-party customer required GMP audits
  • Support product development activities and the new product commercialization process
  • Manage trial plan approval process
Expectations: 
  • Maintain the safety performance of the Product Quality & Development department, at 0.0 OIR, by focusing on risk identification and mitigation (HIRA). 
  • Implement viewing safety as a value rather than a priority by supporting the decision rights for employees to challenge and shut down unsafe activities.
  • Communicate clear expectations to hourly employees regarding evaluating, reporting and responding to risk.
  • Coordinate JHA reviews for Quality Analysts and Technicians.
  • Lead product quality and development activities that support GP Consumer Product strategies to deliver value to the customer while optimizing economic value to GP.
  • Gatekeeper for trial requests and tracking.
  • Support new product commercialization processes by coordinating economical sampling and testing protocol
  • Initiate the set up of new basesheet grade specifications.  Maintain grade specs in accordance to deliver 75% green targets for finished product critical attributes.
  • Facilitate quality stream team review meetings to respond to quality KPI gaps
  • Utilize Sharepoint to allow easy access to quality information that is relevant to the operating departments and those that manage vital supplies.
  • Supervise Conv. and the PM quality labs, testing processes and technical personnel.
  • Align department in accordance with the Safety Action, Manufacturing and Reliability Plans through the application of the MBM Guiding Principles.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years related experience working with quality control systems.
  • An Associates Degree in related field required.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor''s Degree in Engineering, Pulp & Paper Science or related field.
  • Experience and training in analytical troubleshooting or advance problem solving techniques (ex: Kepner Trego, etc.).
  • Paper Industry experience preferred.
