The Occupational Safety & Health Specialist reports to the Facility Environmental Health and Safety Leader and is responsible for supporting the Mills Vision to create an incident free workplace through the proactive and deliberate application of MBM (5 Dimensions and Guiding Principles) and the 7 Elements of the Risk Management System. Specifically, the position focuses on managing and developing compliance systems across the mill and supporting the Operations Excellence Teams through the effective integration of health and safety concepts.
Responsibilities
- Support the Mill visions.
- Embrace MBM Framework and the 10 Guiding Principles.
- Support the Mill in achieving 10,000% compliance in Environmental, Health and Safety.
- Support the Mill in achieving its targets for EHS, Quality, Costs, Reliability & Production.
- Support the Mill through the use of the Risk Management System.
- Provide technical support in development and implementation of compliance systems & programs.
- Identify opportunities to improve leading and lagging indicators.
- Manage the safety and health efforts in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Good analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience in an Industrial Facility in Safety.
- Bachelors Degree in Occupational Safety or Associates Degree in Occupational Safety with ASP/CSP certification.
- Working knowledge of OSHA.
- Experience developing regulatory compliance programs and training.
- Be able to work independently (self-directed), as part of a team and lead teams.
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASP,CSP or equivalent certification
- 3+ years experience in EHS Management Systems
