The Port Hudson Mill is seeking to hire a Process Engineer. Responsibilities: This position plays a key role in the operating areas of the mill. The position will support operations in: Develop a detailed understanding of current asset configurations and operating practices and variables Understand and track industry best practices for production and process management for pulp and paper making processes Work with business development personnel to develop technical options and strategies to capture opportunities for production Work with plant personnel to develop a good understanding of plant options for production processes in the current plants Develop and apply strategies to improve and optimize on-going operations based on the current assets Providing day to day support in troubleshooting, optimizing and reducing cost. Providing engineering support in identifying opportunities and reducing variable cost, energy, improving quality and throughput. Creating long term value by driving projects as a team with operations, project, process control and reliability engineers in achieving best in class operations. Conducting trials to improve or substitute existing products, improving processes, sharing outcome through formal reports. Working with vendors as necessary to identify novel technology available and implement successfully. Demonstrating good analytical capability through mass and energy balance around all operations of the mill, including experience with fiber and liquor balances and WinGems. Improving water, steam, condensate, air and chemical usage. Supporting operations in all compliance efforts.
Required Qualifications: B.S. in Chemical Engineering or pulp/paper science and engineering from an accredited institution Minimum of 3 years of experience in a chemical process industry including significant experience in process engineering Knowledge of typical process industry standards and codes Good communication skills with both plant personnel and senior management Ability to work with plant personnel to identify and implement operating changes Must be able to support plants which are in continuous operation
Preferred: Process engineering experience and experience in management of operations of continuous process assets Process engineering experience in the Pulp and Paper business Business development experience in chemical process industry or manufacturing Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or MBA from an accredited institution
Other Qualifications: Knowledge of statistical process control and application Problem solving and report writing skills Intermediate level knowledge in MS office package Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
