Georgia-Pacific is currently recruiting for a Project Engineer for its Plywood Mill in Taylorsville, MS.
 
Responsibilities:

The project engineer is responsible for organizing and executing all the activities that will deliver both Capital and Small projects ($50K to Multi-$MM) as defined in the scope and budget request. This includes providing/overseeing design, construction/installation, commissioning, startup, and documentation activities. The Project Engineer provides the detailed technical documents for material and equipment procurement, fabrication and construction/installation. This role will also plan and schedule the project work, order the materials from company-approved suppliers, track timing and cost, manage the construction/installation group, and communicate project expectations and progress.
  • Exercise 100% compliance to all environmental, safety, and business practices
  • Understand and utilize the MBM Guiding Principles and Decision Making Framework
  • Use Economic thinking and Cost-Value-Price triangle when evaluating equipment, vendors, and contractors.
  • Ensure projects adhere to standard company practices and expectations through all aspects of project life
  • Form a complete project team as each project requires (including resources for accounting, receiving, construction, engineering, startup and training, process technical and operations)
  • Develop projects by working individually or with a team to finalize scopes, estimates, and justification support for projects
  • Ensure that projects have well defined scope and objectives up front.
  • Manage multiple projects (both large and small) simultaneously
  • Drive projects through all phases including startup and performance
  • Ensure that projects have been vetted with the Design for Reliability philosophy.
  • Participate as needed in assigned reliability efforts
  • Ensure that projects are installed in accordance with established schedule.
  • Ensure that projects are installed within expected funding.
  • Ensure that project spending projections and accruals are accurate within +/-10% overall.
  • Ensure that all training is completed and documented prior to commercial operation
  • Ensure that all spare parts are on site prior to commercial operation of the project.
Basic Qualifications:
  • A Bachelors Degree or higher in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in Project Engineering / Management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able and willing to work in a plywood manufacturing plant environment, including extended periods of time in noisy, non-air conditioned or unheated areas.
  • Must be able and willing to work safely, including wearing and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
  • Must have strong project management skills and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent skills in verbal and written communications, planning, and organization.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of MS Word, Power Point and Excel, and the ability to quickly learn various PC-based applications.
