Responsibilities:
Georgia Pacific Toledo, Oregon has an opening for an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic.
Applicant must be qualified and capable of performing all types of work and repairs to expected performance levels. This includes repairing pumps, gearboxes, cylinders, welding and troubleshooting of hydraulics and pneumatics
Adhere to all plant environmental, health, and safety guidelines, policies and procedures
Assist crew members and work in a team environment
Keep work area clean before, after, and throughout shift
Applicants must meet the education requirements and at least one of the experience requirements listed directly below:
Education requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Experience Requirements
- A minimum of five (5) years of full time experience as a maintenance mechanic in an industrial manufacturing environment
OR
- Industrial mechanical maintenance certificate from an accredited vocational/community college with a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a maintenance mechanic in an industrial manufacturing environment
OR
- Successfully completed an approved maintenance mechanic apprenticeship program or equivalent with at least two (2) years of experience as a maintenance mechanic in an industrial manufacturing environment
Basic Qualifications
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must sign a confidentiality agreement as condition of employment
- Willing and able to work in a tobacco free environment
- Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations
- Ability to lift 50 pounds routinely
- Must be able to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks for extended periods (lifting, walking, climbing, pushing, twisting, stooping)
- Must be able to work in a demanding industrial environment to include but not limited to hot, humid, cold and noisy.
- Must be able to wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, steel toe boots, etc.)
- Must be able to read/interpret blueprints.
- Must be willing and able to communicate job related information as required through associated documentation.
- Must be able to work any shift, long hours, and weekends including Sundays when needed
- Ability to run equipment when needed (Previous experience in a machine shop, automotive shop, or as a crane operator a plus but not required.).
- Reliability/Precision maintenance training and experience highly preferred.
