Communications and Public Affairs Specialist
 

This position primarily supports the planning, development, execution and evaluation of the internal communications segment of Communications and Public Affairs efforts for Georgia-Pacifics Green Bay Operations (GBO). This role reports to and will work with the guidance of the Public Affairs Manager.

The Communications and Public Affairs Specialist initially will spend approximately 85% of his/her time on internal communications work, 10% on community relations work and 5% on media relations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Assist in creating, maintaining and improving communications that foster employee engagement with the values of Market Based Management and the business goals of Green Bay Operations. Primary management of employee-focused tactics that include newsletter, photography, video production and special events.
  • Help revise and redesign intranet site to improve its message delivery capabilities and measurability, and contribute content on an ongoing basis.
  • Work with public affairs manager to increase employee volunteer opportunities and establish greater relationships with local non-profit organizations, schools and other community members.
  • Provide back-up media support as needed, particularly in identification of newsworthy information and its dissemination via news releases and other information tools.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelors degree or higher journalism, communications, public relations or marketing concentration
  • Experience writing and editing using a variety of media
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint

PREFERRED:

  • Experience with web editing software
  • Exposure to a manufacturing environment.
  • Video production and editing expertise.
  • Technical aptitude for intranet and web-based solutions, including social media in a business setting.


    KNOWLEDGE-SKILLS-ABILITIES

    Excellent interpersonal skills.
    Strong project management skills.
    Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
