Electrical & Controls Technician Job Description Georgia-Pacific Coos Bay, Oregon is implementing an additional shift and is seeking an Electrical & Controls Technician to support our operations reliability team. Responsibilities: - All regular duties as performed by an electrician including troubleshooting, wiring and repairing heavy machinery and preventative maintenance to a scheduled system
- Configure Variable Frequency Drives using various applications to run with multiple inputs
- Create, execute and upkeep a mill electrical distribution thermography program for the mill
- Design and layout Machine Control Centers for new processes
- Design and configure power, temperature, vibration and other forms of monitoring systems and create protocol to collect real time data for various analyses. Creating/implementing warning/alarm systems if operating outside of limits
- Troubleshooting and programming programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
- Use, calibrate, troubleshoot and verify optimization and scanning systems
- Environmental systems maintenance including designing, implementing, configuring warning/alarm systems and data collection systems to alert if operating outside of limits and collect real time data for backup and notification capabilities
- Mentor and train electricians in E&C technician duties
- Work directly with key vendors as necessary in a professional efficient manner
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment
Basic Qualifications: - Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have an Oregon Electrical License
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Must have basic computer skills (email, data entry, ability to create documents, etc.)
- Must be able to read schematics and technical drawings
- Must be able and willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays when required
- Must be able and willing to work in a hot, humid, cold, noisy, dusty manufacturing environment
- Must be willing to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
- Must possess own tools
Preferred: - Knowledge/proficiency with AutoCAD
- Previous manufacturing or comparable experience strongly preferred
