POWER, RECOVERY and UTILITY PRODUCTION LEADER The successful candidate will have leadership responsibility for the safe and environmentally compliant operation of a Kraft recovery process, multiple power boilers, and electrical power generation turbines. This position will provide the necessary technical support to optimize the operation by working with crew leaders and the leadership team to improve efficiency and lower operating cost. This position will report to the Power and Recovery Manager and coordinate closely with the area gatekeeper, asset availability leader and reliability/maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and effective spending. Incumbent provides leadership and strategic direction to the facility for capital projects through the application of the MBM framework and Guiding Principles. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Lead and instill a strong safety and environmental compliance culture.
- Understanding and assurance of meeting compliance with corporate and governmental policies and regulations
- Maintain effective working relationships with all facility departments and levels in the organization
- Provide strategic leadership to achieve key operation objectives in safety, environmental compliance, reliability, production and cost.
- Motivate and develop a team of salaried and hourly employees to continuously improve performance and business management.
- Provide operational/business leadership and technical support for the manufacturing process of the area and facilitate troubleshooting and problem solving to achieve goals.
- Investigate, recommend, and implement new technologies and process upgrades.
- Responsible for the overall reliability of the area assets and using reliability concepts (i.e. root cause failure analysis, operator basic care, center lining, etc) and critical thinking skills to effectively troubleshoot and solve complex operating issues.
- Lead or participate on teams for continuous improvement efforts.
- Facilitate a culture of safety and environmental excellence through risk identification and personal ownership.
- Accountable for employee and organizational development plans and strategies in the utilities area.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Paper Science and/or other technical disciplines.
- Minimum of 8 years production supervisory experience OR any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Word (to write business correspondence), Excel (for use of spreadsheets, reporting, simple formulas) and Outlook (for internal and external correspondence).
PREFERRED: - Project experience in a Pulp and Paper Manufacturing facility.
- A minimum 5 years experience in the management of boilers and/or power areas and knowledge of the Kraft recovery process (recovery boilers, kilns, causticizing), and electrical power generation.
