Responsibilities:
 
The Senior Technical Service Associate (Plywood Process Subject Matter Expert) will demonstrate knowledge and ability to assist plants with tuning and optimization of all plywood processing equipment from peeling of veneers to panel finishing.  Responsibilities include assisting the facilities in improving their competitive position through improved efficiency/cost reductions as defined by recovery, yield, and productivity. 
 
The Senior Technical Service Associate will serve as a mentor for site Leadership, Line Tenders, and Operations to increase plywood processing knowledge and develop bench strength over time at each facility.  In addition the position will support continuous improvement processes through good decision making, facility engagement, as well as systems and training.
 
A successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of equipment capability, proven maintenance practices and ability to leverage sustained best practices from plant-to-plant.  A successful candidate will also become a proficient user of Active Plant (Power User), understanding processing opportunities as well as successes to drive long-term continuous improvement.
 
The Senior Technical Service Associate will manage in a way that supports/enhances our Management Philosophy (Market-Based Management), fosters teamwork, and produces results.
 
Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ten (10) or more years of managerial leadership experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
  • Ten (10) or more years of technical experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
  • Must have Travel up to 80% of the time
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Management Demonstrated ability to delegate rigorous workload while providing guidance and leadership.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in coaching/training/developing facility leadership and operations
  • Knowledgeable of manufacturing cost structure and drivers   
  • Basic understanding of raw materials procurement --- as it relates to quality, performance and recovery
  • Processing Capability  
    • Understanding of equipment set-up, tuning and optimization
    • Understanding of benchmarking and utilization of data to drive performance
    • Understanding effective staffing requirements (efficient labor utilization)
    • Understanding yield and rate responsibility to meet key metrics
  • Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance to include predictive/preventive
  • Basics of sales function as it relates to plant sales optimization
