Leaf River Cellulose, LLC, is a world-class manufacturing facility where team members are using innovative technologies to produce specialty and market fluff pulp for a variety high-end uses across the globe.
Our products are used in applications ranging from paper products to diapers and hygiene products as well as specialty applications including textiles, pharmaceuticals, food, paints, and plastic molding components.

With a workforce of approximately 300, Leaf River is a non-union facility located in the heart of South Mississippi, just 20 miles from Hattiesburg and 75 miles from the Gulf Coast.

Optimizer Utilities This role will work closely with the Production Area Leader to optimize the Utilities department. The successful candidate will focus on safely improving productivity and reducing costs through process/equipment and operator knowledge/skill improvement.
Primary Job Responsibilities: Provide leadership for the department to achieve a safety and environmental incident free workplace Develop short and long term operating strategies for the Utilities area power and chemical recovery cycle including causticizing and kiln operations to support the business plan and communicate in the daily operating plan. Facilitate and coach operations to proactively troubleshoot opportunities using various software enablers, such as PTM, simple Root Cause Analysis and PGRS in the areas of: Safety, Environmental, Quality, Productivity, Cost and Development Lead, coach, and develop employees utilizing the MBM Guiding Principles and Operations Excellence tools to improve their capability and performance
Provide strategic and tactical leadership in the areas of asset reliability, cost optimization, quality capability, productivity, and strategic capital planning/execution Work with Utilities department gatekeeper, asset availability leader and maintenance planners to ensure effective execution of reliability and maintenance activities Provide planning and support for operational downs . Provide technical support for the planning and execution of daily maintenance work Facilitate the development of the knowledge and skills of self and others to improve operational performance of the facility Provide daily support and technical expertise to area operators and maintenance personnel Ensure Asset Improvement generates value and controls cost by facilitating analysis, evaluation and prioritization of improvement ideas Proactively help employees to understand the relationship between long-term value creation and the application of the MBM Guiding Principles Knowledge-Skills-Abilities: - Excellent technical troubleshooting and problem solving ability; utilize constructive challenge to drive to the optimum solution

Basic Qualifications: - Bachelors degree or higher in Engineering or related field
- A minimum of 3 years experience in power and/or recovery including causticizing and kiln operations in the pulp and paper industry
- Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Word (to write business correspondence), Excel (for use of spreadsheets, reporting, simple formulas) and Outlook (for internal and external correspondence)
- Experience in developing and implementing improvement processes and projects
Preferred Qualifications: - A minimum of 5 years experience in power and/or recovery processes including causticizing and kiln operations in the pulp and paper industry
- A minimum of 3 years prior supervision or leadership experience
- Experience working within Process Safety Management covered processes
- Basic process control knowledge/experience
