Georgia Pacific Port Hudson Operation is located 20 miles north of Louisianas state capitol of Baton Rouge. Port Hudson is a world-class, fully integrated, low cost producer of xerographic, converting papers, premium bath tissue and paper towels. The mill consists of 3 elemental chlorine-free fiberlines, 2 low odor recovery boilers, 2 steam turbine generators, 1 circulating fluidized bed boiler, 2 world class paper machines, 4 sheeters for converting office and offset papers, a world class tissue machine and tissue converting lines, and a world class towel machine and converting lines.

Responsibilities:

Job assignments are made according to the students major. Some examples of assignments are:

• A mechanical engineering student could manage a small project to specify, purchase and install a process pump upgrade.
  
• An electrical engineer could evaluate the mills power distribution grid for proper breaker protection and follow through with remediation
  
• A chemical engineer could collect process data and analyze to make process improvement suggestions and implement them.
  
• You might assist engineers in working with both hourly and salaried production and maintenance personnel.
  
• You will work closely with other engineers on various projects.
  

Basic Qualifications:

• Responsible self-motivated sophomores or juniors with strong communication and problem-solving skills coupled with a healthy desire to learn.
  
• Must be enrolled in either Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineeringwith an average GPA OF 2.8/4.0.
