TECHNICAL OPTIMIZER - PAPER MACHINE (TECHNICAL ASSISTANT)


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This role will work closely with the Production Area Leader to optimize the paper machine activities. The successful candidate will focus on safely improving productivity and reducing cost through process/equipment and operator knowledge/skill improvement.
  • Supervise the operation of the recycle fiber systems to provide consistent quality fiber to the paper machines.
  • Drive department to achieve a safety and environmental incident free workplace.
  • Provide leadership through effective utilization of Kochs Market Based Management (MBM) and the MBM Framework.
  • Lead and develop employees utilizing the MBM Guiding Principles and Operations Excellence tools to optimize and improve capability and performance.
  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership in the area of asset reliability, cost optimization, quality capability, productivity and strategic capital planning and execution.
  • Work with the business group to optimize assets.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and reliability to ensure customer satisfaction and understand the Voice of the Customer.
  • Assist operators with day-to-day cost and productivity issues with focus on increasing efficiency, reducing waste and operating costs.
  • Facilitate and coach operators to proactively troubleshoot opportunities using various software enablers, such as PTM, simple Root Cause Analysis and PGRS in the areas of: Safety, Environmental, Quality, Productivity, Cost and Development.
  • Work with the quad and maintenance planners to ensure effective execution of reliability and maintenance activities.
  • Assist in building operator skill base in reliability methods and actions, driving in culture of ownership.
  • Provide planning and execution of scheduled downs and outages.
    Interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively teach, coach and mentor people.
  • Ensure Asset Improvement generates value and controls cost by facilitating analysis, evaluation and prioritization of improvement ideas.

KNOWLEDGE-SKILLS-ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work in a team-based environment that provides leadership to meet critical operating targets.
  • Strong Paper Machine Process Knowledge and fundamentals of equipment operation.
  • Strong recycle process knowledge to plan and operate recycle process systems.
  • Excellent in technical troubleshooting, system thinking skills and problem solving ability.
  • Proven communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong computer skills with emphasis in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Project.
  • Proven leadership and facilitation capabilities to advance an organization.
  • Ability to demonstrate fundamental economic skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership showing the ability to affect operational change and improvement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 3 years of paper manufacturing experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Paper Science.
  • Experience as a supervisor or team leader in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
