Georgia-Pacific is seeking to add a Lead Analyst to our Naheola Paper Operations, located in Pennington, AL.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated an understanding of financial analysis and have had some exposure to cost accounting, as well as data mining capability with finance tools such as Excel. Key qualities for success will include an inherent high level of integrity, and the effectiveness to communicate within the framework of our operating culture. A Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or related Business degree, is also a minimum requirement.
Description: In addition to assessing and monitoring internal financial controls, this key position is responsible for preparing and interpreting financial results, cost analysis, variance analysis, and identifying and communicating opportunities to management that lead to improving the financial performance of the business and creating long-term value for the organization.
Responsibilities: Business Analysis Obtain a solid working knowledge of the primary drivers of operations and their impact on financial performance. Develop strong relationships with the Operations team to better understand and anticipate their business needs. Identifying key business trends through KPI tracking and analysis, Support the Product Stream in the decision-making and analysis processes, including DMF process, Operations excellence, benchmarking, and economic thinking. Provide input and recommendations for process improvements by respectfully challenging historical practices. Participate in the forecasting and planning process and encourage accountability for achieving forecasted/plan results. Prepare and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reports, cost review packages, variances analysis and other supplemental reports.
Fiduciary Participate in internal control assessments and on-going monitoring; help identify and drive corrective actions. Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations ensuring account balances are correct and adequately supported. Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Reporting (AF&PA primarily)
Education: Bachelor`s degree or higher in Finance, Business or Accounting. Course work must include intermediate Accounting and Cost Accounting.
Basic Qualification: At least 3 years of experience in an Accounting or Financial analysis role. Experience with Microsoft Office software (Excel - spreadsheet creation/editing, pivot tables, data manipulation/analysis and formulas creation etc. and Access - run queries etc.) Experience in a Manufacturing environment is preferred.
Knowledge - Skills - Abilities: Willing to lead change, improve processes, and solve problems. Able to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment. Strong customer focus, analytical, financial, and economic thinking skills. Experience in SAP, SPECS or other product costing tools, Indus Passport would be helpful.
