Manufacturing Engineer (Towel Stream)
POSITION SUMMARY:
While reporting to the Towel Stream Operations Manager at the GP-Wauna Mill, the chosen candidate will work to:
Optimize machine and process performance of towel converting equipment and/or TAD paper machines.
Become the subject matter expert (SME) of an assigned portion of the asset(s).
Develop/implement asset reliability strategies and process improvements to achieve real long-term value.
Provide technical expertise and transfer knowledge to other members of the operating team.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering with a minimum of a 2 years previous internship, co-op, and/or practical work experience in an industrialized manufacturing environment; OR
A High School diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of 5 years relevant technical experience in the paper industry.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of four (4) years of experience in an industrialized manufacturing environment.
Experience working in a pulp and paper mill, specifically in Converting and/or Paper Machines.
KNOWLEDGE - SKILLS ABILITIES:
Economic thinking skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions that provide a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
Demonstrated ability to act as an entrepreneur to effectively use critical thinking and judge appropriate risks to deliver maximum value to the company.
Passion for innovation that applies analytical thinking skills to develop links between commercially available technology and the application of that technology to converting, or paper making equipment.
Outstanding communication ability to inform and persuade both technical and non-technical people and explain the benefits and risks of technology and the effort required to develop it.
Ability to work independently given vision and direction where real long term value created is measured and rewarded.
