Role
Ergonomics Specialist
Summary
Provide Ergonomics leadership and strategic direction to the facility through the application of the Market Based Management (MBM) Framework and Guiding Principles. Create long-term value for the organization by striving for Ergonomics excellence through real culture change based on the effective implementation of Georgia-Pacifics 7-element Risk Management System (RMS). Ensure Ergonomics strategies effectively address the facilitys risk profile; track, assess, and report appropriate leading and lagging metrics.
The ideal candidate must embrace change, possess strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, and efficiently balance multiple priorities. The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of audiences. The successful candidate must also be self-motivated, work well in a team environment, have sound decision making skills, and good organization skills.
Position reports directly to the Facility Safety & Health Leader.
New or recent graduates with industrial internship experience are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
Basic
o Bachelors degree related to Ergonomics (Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred).
o Board Certification as an Associate Ergonomics Professional (AEP), or the eligibility to become AEP-Certified.
Preferred
o 2+ years of experience using Ergonomics assessment tools in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
o Leadership experience.
o Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) or Certified Human Factors Professional (CHFP).
o Master`s degree in Ergonomics.
Responsibilities
1. Lead facility`s Ergonomics Team.
2. Deliver various levels of Ergonomics training to different audiences.
3. Provide Ergonomics leadership, coaching and mentoring to business and facility leadership teams.
4. Develop, with business leadership, short and long-term Ergonomics strategies to address top risks.
5. Conduct Ergonomics assessments, apply anthropometric design principles, and develop engineering solutions.
6. Ensure systems/methods for identifying ergonomic hazards and evaluating risk are utilized for existing and future equipment, processes, and operations.
7. Ensure effective Ergonomics controls are implemented to eliminate or mitigate hazards to an acceptable level of risk.
8. Work with HR to facilitate return to work accommodations for workers with ergonomic injuries.
9. Analyze overall Ergonomics data trends; check and adjust methods, systems, and strategies accordingly to improve injury prevention efforts.
10. Monitor compliance to Georgia-Pacific Ergonomics Guideline, and other Safety & Health Standards and Best Practices.
11. Act as the Ergonomics subject matter expert for the facility.
12. Effectively communicate the facility`s Safety & Health and Ergonomics visions and performance to internal and external stakeholders.
