Georgia-Pacific Gypsum LLC is seeking a Distribution Manager to join our team at the Savannah, GA facility. The Distribution Manager will be expected to safely organize, set up and prepare on time delivery of product to the plant customers; strive for perfection and maintaining a high standard of safety, quality, inventory accuracy, housekeeping and productivity within the shipping department. The ideal candidate for this position is detail oriented, possesses excellent communication, written and problem solving skills, as well as the ability to follow specific guidelines and processes. Candidates must be self-motivated, able to prioritize, and work under pressure. The Distribution Manager will provide expertise to drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
o Lead and mentor employees to apply Market-Based Management (MBM) in ways that are consistent with Georgia-Pacifics Guiding Principles
o Develop and cultivate an open challenge culture
o Develop departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that drive value and support for the Gypsum vision
o Ensure all employees are working in a safe manner by developing a culture where employees address unsafe conditions, unsafe behaviors and participate and make suggestions for improvement
o Manage a one-shift operation in a non-union manufacturing environment
o Responsible for Kronos timekeeping and scheduling of hourly employees within the shipping department
o Advanced level knowledge of shipping/receiving processes, inventory control, motor transportation, and warehouse distribution
o Manage warehouse inventory and placement of in-house goods, as well as for an off-site storage location
o Daily and monthly reconciliation of warehouse inventory
o Communicate financial shipping issues to the plant controller
o Work with motor carriers to ensure on-time deliveries
o Work with the GP Transportation Group to ensure the most efficient common carrier is used
o Communicate gaps and opportunities with carriers, sales, the logistics group, and in-house contractors
o Manage the flow of rail for inbound/outbound freight by communicating not only with the rail logistics group, but also with the railroad
Basic Qualifications:
o Bachelors degree or five years manufacturing supervisory experience in logistics/warehouse/shipping
o Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
o Bachelors degree in Supply Chain or Logistics
o Two (2) years of supervisory experience
o Knowledge or experience with managing a continuous improvement process
o Logistical knowledge of truck and rail shipments, customer service, and/or or accounting
FLSA Classification:
The Distribution Manager position is a salaried exempt role.
Salary and benefits commensurate with experience.
