The Facility Environmental Coordinator (FEC) is responsible for coordinating the environmental compliance program at a Gypsum manufacturing facility providing day-to-day environmental support to operations, developing, implementing, and maintaining required plans, permits, and reports within the organization through the Operations Excellence process. The FEC is also responsible for training personnel and implementing Georgia-Pacifics (GP) environmental risk management system, understanding and implementing new environmental regulations applicable to the facility, and establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with site personnel and environmental agencies.


Works directly with plant manager and capability leaders to ensure that environmental requirements are proactively integrated into the facilitys operations. Coordinates with Divisional and Corporate environmental resources.



Basic Qualifications:

o Minimum 2 years direct industrial environmental experience

o Bachelors degree in science, engineering or related field.

o Working knowledge of environmental regulations/requirements in, storm water, SPCC, SARA/CERCLA, and hazardous/nonhazardous waste.

o Excellent communication skills with ability to interpret, organize, and report data and information accurately.

o Experience with site implementation of corporate environmental systems.
o The ability to travel as needed. Typically 5% to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications:

o Air Permitting experience is highly desired for this role.

  • Possess strong reading and clear written communication capabilities;
  • Proactive and assertive with sense of urgency to problem solving;
  • Commitment to high performance work systems and change management;
  • Skill in use of standard computer software for reports and presentations;
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and execute multiple projects effectively;
  • Ability to develop effective action plans and drive continuous improvement of the facility`s environmental compliance program and management systems; and,
  • Ability to embrace MBM principles.
