Performs general law enforcement duties, including but not limited to, enforcing laws, hospital policies and procedures, protecting hospital, staff, patients, and visitors persons and property.

Please note GHS Police Department employees are not included in the South Carolina Retirement System or Police Officer Retirement System (PORS).

Must be a Graduate of Police Academy and a current Certified SC Law Enforcement Officer with one year of stable employment in any field, and must have a SC Driver`s license with no record during the previous five years for suspension of driver`s license as a result of driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages or dangerous drugs, driving while impaired (or the equivalent), reckless homicide, involuntary manslaughter, or leaving the scene of an accident. This position also requires successful completion of the Law Enforcement Officer Aptitude Battery Inventory Test and a Polygraph Screening prior to employment. Certification through International Association of Hospital Security and Safety, prior experience in the military/armed forces and college level coursework in Criminal Justice preferred.
