Under supervision, assists providers and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical research environment. Promotes efficient patient flow and patient care. Records patient data with attention to research specific detail regarding patient medications. In addition, is responsible for phlebotomy, specimen handling and processing of high complexity laboratory tests including processing of multiple protocol specific laboratory kits and pharmacokinetic specimens. Follows OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste and any other potentially infectious material. Provides a safe environment for patients, families and clinical staff. Maintains a clean work environment. Maintains strict patient confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.

Job related course work beyond high school in a medical assistant program OR five or more years of experience as a Medical Assistant or Patient Care Tech performing a variety of clinical duties required. One (1) year medical assistant experience and certification preferred. Must also have basic computer, data entry and mathematical skills; knowledge of office equipment (fax/coper) and patient equipment (suction, defibrillator, vitals; and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and database management.
