Description
The Surgical Technician acts as a scrub person, handles instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. The Surgical Technician, through active participation, assists in planning, implementing and ensuring quality patient care during the operative procedure.
Qualifications
- High school graduate required
- Graduate of Surgical Technician School or 2 years experience as surgical scrub technician required
- Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to address patients, families and hospital personnel required
- Graduate of Surgical Technician School plus 1 year experience as a Surgical Technician preferred
- Certification preferred (requires passing the certification boards)
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
- Ability to flex hours and shifts due to fluctuations in patient acuity and staff availability
- Good hand dexterity
