Department BFL-Service Position Summary Job Summary: Under the management direction of the shift supervisor, the Line Service Technician is responsible for the fueling of aircraft and other duties as outlined in the job description. The Line Service Technician is personally committed to on-time achievement of targets and objectives. Will readily offer support to peers and colleagues. Incorporates customer requirements into HBS objectives. Focuses effort on delivering satisfaction to both internal and external customers. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities: •Assists with aircraft arrival and departure preparations. Ensuring all arriving aircraft are greeted and parked properly with parking wands, chocks and a carpet. And, all departing aircraft are marshaled out upon departure and on schedule. •Properly fuels/defuels all types of aircraft in a safe and efficient manner per requirements. •Deice aircraft using proper deice procedures. •Prepares ramp and secures aircraft against inclement weather conditions. •Notifies supervisor/manger of any equipment malfunction and/or damage. Promptly notifies supervisor/manager of damage to any aircraft and ensures that an accident report is completed. •Tows aircraft or assists others with towing. •Perform work with minimal supervision. •Perform other duties as may be required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities: •High school graduate or equivalent. •Valid driver’s license. •Math skills in basic mathematical calculations. •Safety conscious and service oriented knowledge. •Good communication and customer relations skills. •Unrestricted abilities to perform all assigned job tasks in a safe and efficient manner. •Abilities to recognize hazards without assistance and take appropriate action. •Physical and mental abilities to respond immediately to emergencies and to move quickly about the ramp, hangars and other areas of the facility. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: •LST I – 0 years of experience. High school graduate or equivalent. Valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements: •Physical abilities to lift 50 pound objects. •Ability to work in all inclement weather.
Working Conditions: Line Service Technicians work outdoors, sometimes in unpleasant weather fueling/defueling and deicing aircraft. Line Service Technicians often work under time pressure to maintain flight schedules or, in general aviation, to keep from inconveniencing customers. At the same time, Line Service Technicians have a tremendous responsibility to maintain safety standards, and this can cause the job to be stressful.
Line Service Technicians must lift or pull objects weighing more than 50 pounds and must work in precarious positions, such as on ladders. Eye protection is required to perform all fueling/defueling and deiceing procedures. Noise and vibration are common when aircraft are arriving or departing the facility, so ear protection is recommended. Branch HBS Bakersfield, CA (BFL)
