Job Summary:
The Clinical Program Manager (CPM) is a registered nurse with demonstrated clinical and management skills who participates in program development and coordinates clinical aspects of care for patients. The CPM is responsible to the nurse manager. Coordinates interdisciplinary functions to assure appropriate clinical interventions, and quality improvement activities for the service. Assumes administrative responsibility for the services in the absence of the nurse manager or director. Clinical Program managers advocate for and allocate available resources to promote efficient, effective, safe and compassionate nursing care based on current standards of practice. They promote shared decision-making and professional autonomy. They facilitate an atmosphere of interactive management and the development of collegial relationships among nursing personnel and others. They serve as a link between nursing personnel and other healthcare disciplines. The job duties affect direct patient care through the completion of tasks which allow others to provide direct care and may require provision of direct patient care. Responsible for ensuring that satisfaction and service with internal contacts is maintained. This includes resolving complaints, making adjustments or correcting mistakes. Job assigns, monitors and evaluates, the flow of work for employees in a work unit. Observes, monitors, and controls productivity for the unit. Provides input or completes performance reviews as requested. Clinical Program Managers are accountable for the environment in which clinical nursing is practiced. The manager must create a learning environment that is open and respectful, and promotes the sharing of expertise to promote the benefits of health outcomes. The ability of the manager to enhance the practice environment is critical to the recruitment and retention of registered nurses with diverse backgrounds and appropriate education and experience. Clinical Program Manager contribute to the planning process, day-to-day operations, standards of care, patient and staff education, and attainment of goals of the organization. Clinical Program Managers collaborate with the nurse managers, directors, and others in organizational planning, innovation, and evaluation.

REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing. Current licensure as a registered nurse by the State of Maryland. BSN or current enrollment in a Bachelors degree program with completion in five (5) years. MS preferred. At least five (5) years experience in direct patient care with current and previous experience in applicable clinical specialty. Management experience preferred. Demonstrated leadership skills required. Nationally recognized certification in nursing administration and/or an appropriate specialty preferred. Must maintain current CPR certification.
