Job Summary:
Collect, verify, monitor, and enter appropriate patient data into computer, ensures all necessary paperwork is completed and appropriately signed by patient in order to admit patient for inpatient or outpatient services, reviews physician orders assuring diagnosis is a covered service, verifies patient's insurance coverage prior to, during, or immediately after the admission process to obtain verification of coverage and pre-authorization/approval for services necessary, and reviews documentation for proper coding and billing reimbursement codes to ensure the hospital is reimbursed correctly and timely.
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalency with a minimum of one year of customer service or data entry experience in a health care environment, and knowledge of medical insurance, third party payors and medical terminology. Proficient in data entry, able to retrieve, store, save data and print. Keyboarding speed of 35 WPM preferred; or minimum of 20 WPM required with one year previous admitting counselor or equivalent health insurance experience.
