Job Description:
The Advance Practice Nurse II performs Medical care services to patients while functioning under a collaborative agreement with physician(s) in the clinic. Follows established standards and practices setforth by the Clinic Medical Director.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Employees in this position perform the following technical competencies:
Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients.
Interprets data to determine appropriate diagnosis and therapeutic procedures as needed.
Performs a complete physical examination and records finding. Collaborates with physician in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients; including ordering appropriate lab and diagnostic procedures; performing as a primary care provider for patients as designated in their Collaborative Practice Agreement with the physician.
Administers medications and injections pursuant to their Collaborative Practice Agreement. Provides patient education.
Interview and advises patients regarding their health. Refers patients as appropriate, to meet patient needs, for type of patient seen.
Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Posts test results and examination results in medical record.
Triages patient inquiries via telephone and provides appropriate consultation to patient, employer, insurer, nurse case manger, and others as needed.
Assist in management of medical and surgical emergencies.
Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional licensure and certification.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Participates in promotional events as they relate to the clinic, practice, and Heartland Health.
Job Qualifications:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner Program.
Licensure:
Valid Missouri nursing license and ANP or FNP certification. BLS certification required.
Experience:
Two years in practice preferred; knowledge in principles involved in workers' compensation and occupational medicine strongly preferred.
Essential Technical/Motor Skills:
Requires full range of body motion. Good eye/hand coordination and ability to lift/manipulate patients during care procedures.
Interpersonal Skills:
Ability to assess, evaluate and comprehend patient needs. Ability to form strong interpersonal relationships with clients, employers, insurers, Heartland Health staff, and others by effectively presenting information and responding to their questions and concerns in a professional manner.
Essential Physical Requirements:
Manual/finger dexterity involved in primary medical office care. Ability to drive automobile and ambulate within both clinic and workplace environments, including use of required PPE.
Essential Mental Abilities:
Must be able to speak clearly, and communicate effectively with a wide range of culturally diverse clients and customers. Ability to deal with problems involving multiple variables in complex situations.
Essential Sensory Requirements:
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Hearing capable of facilitating appropriate communication and performing diagnostic evaluations.
Exposure To Hazards:
Frequent exposure to body fluids, toxic substances, communicable diseases, flammable liquids, needle sticks, and other conditions common to medical office environments.
